Machine work throws chips, spray and grease at your shirt. This apron takes the hit instead. It also holds what you reach for between cuts: a pencil in a chest pocket, a scale or feeler gauge at the waist, a rag in the swing pocket. You keep your street clothes cleaner and your tools closer.
The apron is cut from blue cotton canvas. Two pockets sit on the chest, two at the waist, and one swing pocket hangs where you can reach it. Criss-cross lacing straps run over your back and tie in front, so you can pull it snug or wear it loose over a jacket. It weighs about 0.65 lb.

Use and care
- Shake out metal chips before you wash it, so they do not end up in the machine.

Does what it's supposed to
I finally got around to using my machinist apron after getting sprayed with aluminum chips from a milling machine. I should have been using it before.The milling operations blasted chips into my street clothes and had lots of tiny sharp fragments stuck to my shirt and pants. A machinist apron probably isn't high fashion, but wearing it is a lot better than getting stuck with pin pricks and scratches.
Poorly constructed
Poor workmanship. Gomet ripped out the first time I put it on. The grommet was over driven into the cloth.

How do the straps adjust?
The straps cross over your back and tie in front. You pull them tighter or looser, so the apron fits over a T-shirt or a winter jacket.
Is it good for welding?
No. The apron is cotton canvas, which does not stand up to sparks and spatter. Use it for machining, bench work and shop jobs where chips and grime are the main mess.
